Q: Stormwater retention ponds and other stormwater control measures are really common, but how do they remove nutrients from stormwater that could cause issues downstream?
This work measures gas and nutrient fluxes from stormwater control measure sediment cores to determine how they remove nutrients.

One common type of stormwater control measure is a stormwater pond. By investigating the factors that influence stormwater pond nutrient cycling, we can determine what management actions might make ponds more effective nutrient sinks. So far, this project has focused on how stormwater pond age and temperature impact nitrogen cycling.
